Callaghan Innovation offers our customers access to a comprehensive product and service suite spanning the identification, development and adoption of innovation & technical solutions, fore-sighting and futuring, building internal skills and expertise, and help with accessing the talent, new markets and funding they require.

The Sector Impact business unit is organised by sector to work with companies and industries to identify the barriers and opportunities to achieve their growth potential. We collaborate with these organisations and our network of solution providers to scope their needs, and develop and provide innovation solutions and on-going assistance.

We are seeking an energetic and talented Business Innovation Advisor to provide direction and advice to customers within the Energy and Environment sector. The sector includes

  • Companies who develop high value products and services relevant to the production, supply, management and conversion of energy, and
  • Companies who develop high value products and services that reduce negative environmental impacts.

This position is critical to Callaghan Innovation's success. Building a portfolio of high growth potential customers, you will connect them to the technologies, talent and funding they need to commercialise their products and services.

As well as a business degree or equivalent experience, you will be able to operate as a trusted advisor to their boards and senior management. You'll be someone with extensive business acumen, strong professional credibility and experience in:

  • The energy and / or environment sectors;
  • Commercialisation of ideas / products;
  • Accessing funding channels;
  • Financial management and governance;
  • R&D and new product and process scoping / development;
  • Bringing together multi-disciplined, solutions-oriented teams; and
  • Building sustainable relationships.

Along with building relationships with customers you'll be collaborating with our network of internal and external partners and solutions providers, such as NZTE and Regional Business Partners including regional economic development agencies, universities and CRIs, so you'll need to be an effective communication who can quickly establish credibility.
