The Treasury is the government's lead economic, financial and regulatory advisor. Our vision is to be a world leading Treasury working towards higher living standards for New Zealanders.

We have a unique opportunity for a Senior Analyst to join our team working on the Government's review of the Reserve Bank Act. The team has been set up to deliver a high profile commitment of the new Government to review and reform the Reserve Bank Act. In this role you will be part of a fast-paced dynamic team working to see a Bill introduced and progressed through the Parliamentary process.

You will have an opportunity to:

  • Be closely involved in the select committee process
  • Take the lead on coordinating and/or preparation of written reports for the select committee
  • Contribute to developing the Treasury's advice on a number of outstanding policy issues
  • Enhance your relationship management skills working closely with the Reserve Bank and other teams across the Treasury
  • Lead the drafting of Treasury Reports and Cabinet Papers
  • Provide input to other requests from Ministers


This role would suit you if you're a Senior Analyst with a tertiary qualification and at least 5 years' experience in developing and providing economic, financial or regulatory policy advice. The ideal candidate would have previous experience in public policy including working through the select committee process in New Zealand. A background in monetary policy is not required, but a general understanding of institutional economics, governance, policy development, and/or Parliamentary processes would be advantageous.
