Job Description

  • Are you an experienced risk specialist?
  • Do you enjoy the thought leadership side of risk?
  • If so, this exciting new role is your next career move!

LINZ is establishing a new Risk team within the Risk and Assurance Group.  This is a great opportunity to join the team and showcase your excellent analytical skills, data extraction abilities and fantastic people skills.

We are looking for a Principal Risk Advisor who can be responsible for the thought leadership and development of our risk approach to ensure it aligns with risk management practices with LINZ's strategy.

This role requires an experienced risk specialist to improve enterprise-wide risk processes, and someone who is comfortable working directly with our managers and other areas of the business.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience within a risk specific role
  • A degree qualification in accounting, business and/or relevant qualifications from professional bodies, e.g. CIA, CA, RiskNZ
  • Experience in risk management with a strong understanding of internal control and risk management principles
  • The ability to illustrate expert knowledge of risk management frameworks, ISO31000 standards and experience in applying best practice principles and techniques
  • Skills and experience in the promotion and education of risk practices at all levels of an organisation
  • The proven ability to analyse data, draw conclusions and produce meaningful information to inform decision-making

At Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), we underpin New Zealand's success with information about ‘where' – that is, location information. From the best way to develop farm land, build a new suburb, manage a high country farm or navigate on land or at sea, our work and location information help people make better decisions and create economic, social, environmental and cultural value for New Zealand.

LINZ is one of the most engaged organisations in the public sector and people always say what a fantastic place LINZ is to work. You will be joining a large, friendly family that keeps a balance between high-quality outputs, and social activities.

This is a fantastic role which will allow you to be involved in challenging and politically visible work that impacts positively on New Zealand's future.

Click on the ‘Apply online' button below in order to be directed to our on-line careers website.  You may view a position description at this site, as well as complete the on-line application, and upload a CV and cover letter.  We are looking for evidence of how you meet each of the key selection criteria.
