This is your opportunity to utilise your previous nursing experience and sound knowledge to join the New Zealand Defence Force Health team.

What you will do
The Defence Health Centre based at Waiouru Military Camp is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive, safe and efficient, high quality nursing care for our service personal by focusing on best nursing practice while working collaboratively along side the Doctors, Medics and other health professionals. The position is a pivotal role in extended care for patients, health promotion, assessment and triage of patients that present to the Waiouru Defence Health Centre. This is a shift work position and one must be confident to practice autonomously within scope of practice, recognising limitations and referring on as appropriate.  
What we need
Together with your post-graduate experience and exposure to a clinical and triage environment, you will have a proven ability to maintain integrity and absolute confidentiality. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will shine through, as will your personal time management skills and ability to work collaboratively with the team. 
To be successful in this role you will be prepared and willing to take direction and work both under supervision and autonomously. You must be able to relate to wide ranging groups of people and cultures, along with sound knowledge of a spectrum of general health issues sufficient to provide health education services to military personnel as required.
You will have demonstrated and proven ability to work independently using sound clinical judgement and initiative, have the accuracy and attention to detail required, and be highly self-motivated. You will also be able to demonstrate ethical decision making in implementing and or modifying clinical interventions.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Low level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
