Job Description

Principal Advisor Digital Strategy

The Tertiary Education Commission's (TEC) mission is to ensure that all New Zealanders are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need for life long achievement. TEC invests $3.2 billion annually in the tertiary education system. With the integration of Careers New Zealand in July 2017, and an ambitious strategy to regenerate the sector, TEC is reorganising its entire organisation to meet these challenges. This new position follows a strategic and functional realignment of the Commission to support its focus on New Zealand's future success.

Reporting to the new role of Manager Strategic Engagement, this role leads the development and implementation of strategies and plans that contribute to the efficacy and relevance of TEC. The role works collaboratively across the organisation to evolve the digital offering to enable the TEC to continue to be relevant and deliver high value services to our customers.

You will create a whole-of-TEC strategic approach to how we evolve our digital offering and advise senior management in the design and implementation of digital change initiatives. You will work closely with the relevant teams and people in the TEC and other organisations to pursue digital agendas and challenge current thinking in the digital environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience in development and leadership of strategic digital initiatives
  • A track record of successful projects that have enabled the organisation to move forward with their business through digital initiatives
  • Strategic thinking skills with the ability to make the connections between various aspects of the organisation and implications for future service delivery and digital direction
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders
