Manager Strategy & Evaluation

 

The Tertiary Education Commission's (TEC) mission is to ensure that all New Zealanders are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need for life long achievement. TEC invests $3.2 billion annually in the tertiary education system. With the integration of Careers New Zealand in July 2017, and an ambitious strategy to regenerate the sector, TEC is reorganising its entire organisation to meet these challenges. This new position follows a strategic and functional realignment of the Commission to support its focus on New Zealand's future success.

 

Reporting to the new role of Deputy Chief Executive Strategy & Design, this role is responsible for creating the thinking that leads to our longer term (3-10 years out) strategies and innovations, managing our research programme, and evaluating the effectiveness of the programmes and strategies we put in place. 

 

The teams that make up the new Strategy & Design directorate have not been formed yet. You will work closely with the DCE Strategy & Design and peer group managers to create a strategy, work plan, directorate structure, role definitions, work systems and processes, and an implementation plan to create the new Strategy & Design Directorate. This will also involve working closely with counterparts in the new Delivery directorate which will be set up at the same time.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven track record in system level design and delivery interventions
  • Knowledge and experience in evaluation methodologies, approaches, and application of evaluation for improvement
  • Strong strategic thinking ability
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to model and embrace change and new ways of working.
