Inland Revenue (IR) collects most of the government revenue that funds core services that we use every day, such as hospitals, schools and national parks. We also administer a number of social support programmes, like Working for Families and KiwiSaver.

We're also delivering a multi-year business transformation programme to modernise the tax system, to make it simpler and faster for people and business to pay their taxes and receive any entitlements. We have recruited an exceptional IT management team to align, plan, build and operate leading, high quality, cost effective systems and technology to meet Inland Revenue's Business Transformation goals.  Being a member of this team offers the successful applicant a unique opportunity to directly contribute to the performance and direction of Inland Revenue's business. 

The Channel Systems team supports business systems and services that interface between Inland Revenue and its customers by way of many channels such as internet/intranet, portal, paper and voice. 

 

About the role

The Business Platform Manager, Channel Systems will support moving customers to more cost effective channels and support the strategy enabling the shift of service demand to online and electronic channels.  We are looking for a business oriented professional who possesses a strong technical focus, an understanding of the Agile Manifesto and with the ability to utilise IT as a means to grow a business and develop business opportunities.

 

What you'll need to bring to the role

To succeed in this role it is essential you have:

 

  • highly developed and proven leadership skills 
  • management experience within a complex environment with a broad range of channels, especially web based, automated outbound and telephony systems 
  • excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated success at a managerial level representing, communicating and managing IT systems to deliver value to the business, stakeholders and customers 
  • an understanding of what it means to "be agile" and how to use agile thinking and practices to achieve rapid delivery and high quality outcomes
  • previous active management of vendors and suppliers, ensuring they are integrated into the delivery framework and meeting business requirements
  • experience with being the interface between IT and the business, and leading the delivery of services and business orientated outcomes
  • financial acumen; possess the ability to understand and manage cost drivers, depreciation, licensing and licensing compliance, develop budgets, investment cases and rolling forecasts
