About the roles

The Child Adolescent and Family Outpatient Service is based at Hillmorton Hospital and has outreach clinics across the wider Canterbury area including North Canterbury. We are seeking experienced Community Mental Health Nurses to join our CAF North Team of Health professionals.

Join us and become part of a dedicated group of health professionals and share in our commitment to quality patient care. We are a cohesive and highly motivated multi-disciplinary team of health professionals, who, working in partnership with families/whanau and carers provide a comprehensive psychiatric assessment, treatment and case management service for our child and youth clients up to the age of 19. Treatments include specialist brief intervention, group work and discipline specific work depending on your background training and experience.

To make the most of this opportunity it is envisaged you will have experience within mental health and also be open and motivated to continue in your own professional development.


  • Full time - 1.0FTE

Skills and experience:

  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC.
  • Ability to work autonomously within the scope of your skills and experience.
  • Flexibility, exceptional interpersonal and time management skills.
  • The ability to think on your feet, is a key attribute for this role as you will need the skills and confidence to work at a fast pace, including with clients presenting acutely.
  • Experience in working with clients with alcohol or other drug abuse or dependence would also be an advantage.
  • A current driver's licence is essential as this position will include driving to and working from our outreach bases across the Canterbury area.
