Working for the Canterbury District Health Board - working for the Community. At its core, our vision is dependent on achieving a truly collaborative, 'whole of system' approach where everyone in the health system works together to do the right thing for the patient and the right thing for the system and our community as a whole.

About the role

Do you want to help children, adolescents and their family /whanau overcome mental health difficulties? Are you reliable, self-motivated and want to contribute to effective service delivery? The Children in Care Team (Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health Service) is a specialist mental health service that provides assessment and treatment of young people who are in the custody of Oranga Tamariki and who present with moderate to severe mental health problems.

We have a permanent part time position available for a NZ Registered Social Worker with a clear passion for young people and their families. This is challenging and demanding work within a supportive team.

Experience in a mental health setting is essential. Bring your enthusiasm and motivation to work with us and we'll provide you with a great opportunity to enhance your skills in a specialty area. Working as a Social Worker in this team you will be working within a case management model which will require great organisation and excellent time management to keep up with this exciting client group.

As part of this specialist service and multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and therapeutic interventions. You will develop and regularly review a job plan and caseload with the Clinical Manager. The ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with young people, family/whanau/caregivers, community and statutory organisations is essential.

Some minor travel around Canterbury will be required.
