Great opportunity to influence the quality of operational policy in a large claims management network and inform decisions that affect how New Zealanders receive entitlements.

About the Team:
The wider Technical Services team aims to provide staff with timely and quality advice to enable consistent and robust decisions to be made for clients. The Technical Policy team supports these outcomes by providing advice, making linkages to other teams (e.g. Legal and Clinical advice), improving operational policy, and as the delegation holder on a wide range of cover, entitlement and process issues. In sum, the team supports a range of work streams to ensure the smooth running of operational activities.

As the Technical Policy team is responsible for operational policy, which reviews legislation, regulations and case law to ensure that policy is developed accurately, you ll be utilising your operational policy experience to complete high quality analysis using a variety of frameworks. You ll bring excellent relationship management skills and proven ability to influence stakeholders.

Your focus on continuous improvement and your desire to ensure that policies are developed to a high standard will be critical to your success in this role.

Key Skills / Educational Requirement:
Bring your tertiary qualification or relevant experience in a similar role to this unique opportunity.
Experience in a policy role related function, preferably in a large organisation
Exposure to public sector policy development
Proven experience to interpret and critically evaluate appropriate information to determine relevant advice
Strong written and oral communication skills including report writing

This is a great opportunity for some who is flexible and can adapt, as things can change quickly here. You naturally work in the grey and can manage your way through ambiguity and problem solving. You are inquisitive and like to challenge the underlying problem and you often think outside the box when looking for solutions.
