Housing New Zealand is a Statutory Crown Entity responsible for providing high quality state housing to people in the greatest need, for the duration of their need, alongside supporting the government's priorities in the supply of emergency and affordable housing.

To help achieve this, we require a Senior Internal Communications Advisor who will play a critical role in bringing Housing New Zealand's strategic priorities to life. As the Senior Internal Communications Advisor, you will contribute to a culture of open, two-way communications by providing strategic advice and solutions to senior management on communication matters and through the implementation of best-practice guidelines.

Supporting the Internal Communications Manager you will be responsible for developing internal communications within our People Technology and Change Business Group to ensure our staff, based in more than forty locations throughout New Zealand, are aligned and engaged in the plans to help meet Housing New Zealand's priorities.

Key accountabilities include:

  • improving employee engagement through increased understanding of Housing New Zealand's strategic outcomes
  • co-ordinating, writing and editing of internal communications
  • bringing innovation and creativity to Housing New Zealand's internal communications activities
  • supporting change programmes and mini campaigns through effective communications
  • providing internal communications expertise and coaching to Senior Managers
  • building strong and effective working relationships within the Communications and Marketing Team, and across HNZ.

What you'll need to bring:

  • Relevant tertiary or communications qualification
  • Proven experience in internal communications
  • Demonstrated excellent clear writing ability with a passion for plain English
  • Excellent people skills
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and communicating change
  • Ability to analyse and distil strategic and technical concepts down into plain English messages
  • Political awareness and sensitivity
