About our work

2018 is going to be a huge year for the Building System Performance branch (BSP) at MBIE.  BSP is the Government's lead advisor on the building regulatory system and we want to be world-leading.

Last year we transformed how we work to make sure we're ready for 2018 and beyond.  You'll have heard about KiwiBuild and not surprisingly we have a big role to play in it.  As well as delivering more affordable houses for New Zealanders, KiwiBuild is also an opportunity to shape the building regulatory system to meet New Zealand's current and future needs.  And that's where you come in…

Ensuring that the building regulatory system supports New Zealand's social and economic aspirations is a very big undertaking, but at MBIE such challenges are what drive us. It's a place where if you see an opportunity to make things better and to enhance the system, you're empowered to act on that opportunity.

  • Developing relationships with industry and within government to ensure visibility of the Ministry in matters relating to structural engineering
