Principal Communications Adviser - Office of the Inspectorate

 

The Principal Communications Adviser, Office of the Inspectorate is responsible for the provision of a range of communication services to the Office of the Inspectorate. The role provides strategic advice, manages significant communications issues and supports major initiatives, as well as developing and promoting communication that build understanding and support for the Office of the Inspectorate.

 

The Inspectorate team consists of independent inspectors who check on the fair, safe, secure and humane treatment of prisoners and people detained within the Corrections system.

 

The role requires a collaborative work style in supporting a broad range of communications activities that positively influences and manages the reputation of the Office of the Inspectorate.

 

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills:

  • Experience in developing strategic communications plans and recognising opportunities
  • Developing and implementing targeted communications and managing projects
  • Ability to manage a diverse portfolio of tasks to a high standard and to timeframes.
  • Excellent crisis and reputation management skills.
  • Ability to coach and influence staff.
  • Strong oral communications and interpersonal skills, including solid stakeholder management

 

You will also desirable have a tertiary qualification in journalism, communications or a related discipline is desirable and at least five years relevant experience in a state sector agency and/or a large, diverse organisation.

 

A current driver's licence and the ability to travel as an when the role requires it- is an essential for the role.
