About the team:


As a ministry with a powerful mandate to make a difference to the lives of New Zealand's tamariki, it is an exciting time to be part of our People and Leadership team.  We are looking for amazing people who can help us demonstrate that our people matter, as without them we cannot make a difference to our tamariki.


There are two parts to the People and Leadership team's role. We will deliver on our people strategy by providing targeted advice, support and guidance to managers on people-related issues and delivering an exceptional employee experience. We will also support senior managers to understand the workforce that is needed to provide services for children, and have plans in place to make sure we build the capacity, capability and leadership needed for the future, and support creating an environment where people can perform at their best.


Our new team has a number of newly formed senior roles for just the right people.  To be successful you will delight in anticipating and meeting our customers' needs, and get satisfaction in delivering a job well done at pace.  You will also be an awesome communicator and work collaboratively in our team and across the business. You will be a juggler, managing a variety of work, be savvy with systems, data, and have great judgement.  Best of all you will be great at what you do, looking for a new challenge in your career, and able to keep your perspective when it all gets a little crazy!


About the role:


Leading a national team of Senior HR Advisors you will demonstrate a strong solutions focus delivery and be comfortable working in an environment which demands strong deliverables along with the ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solutions.  You will be responsible for managing complex HR cases that are escalated to you, providing advice and resolutions to potentially difficult situations.


You will also contribute to key projects focussing on the development new initiatives, programmes and policies across all aspects of our HR strategy.


Skills and experience:


You will have exceptional generalist HR experience with expertise in providing practical employment relations advice and experience in leading teams through a period of significant change.   You will also have the enthusiasm and passion to drive continuous improvement, have strong relationship building skills and be able to communicate with key clients at all levels to help develop our people strategy for the better.
