Job Description

  • Two permanent full-time roles
  • Based in our Wellington CBD offices

Housing New Zealand is a Statutory Crown Entity responsible for providing high quality state housing to people in the greatest need, for the duration of their need, alongside supporting the government's priorities in the supply of emergency and affordable housing.

Housing New Zealand's vision is 'Building lives and communities by housing New Zealanders'. To help achieve this, we require two experienced Test Analysts who will be responsible for completing day-to-day test delivery tasks, including adherence to standards for testing solutions over the solution life cycle using specific technical methodologies.

The team manages the testing of system changes across core (Northgate and Oracle) and non-core (such as VSM, Jira, SILK, Objective etc) applications. The team work closely with development, business analyst, project management, release and business operations teams and external vendors.

To be successful you will have the following:

  • Have a good understanding of testing processes and the value of testing in the Software development life cycle
  • Experienced in test planning, test development, execution of test assets, complete system integration, functional testing, regression testing, defect management and reporting.
  • Practical knowledge of various test methodologies including Agile and Waterfall
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of risk-based testing methodologies
  • High level analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to investigate complex issues and make informed decisions about them when written guidelines are not necessarily available
  • Results driven and ability to drive innovation and use initiative
  • Stepping up when needed, willing to assist and share knowledge with others
  • Experience working in large complex organisations, ideally in the public sector
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good customer and partner relationships through daily interaction
  • Proven advanced problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into test scenarios and describe software defects clearly and succinctly

Technical Skills:

  • Exposure to test automation in a technical capacity (including scripting, building and maintaining automation frameworks),
  • Experience with Oracle/ EBS or financial products (desirable)
  • ISTQB Certified Software Test professional or other relevant qualifications
  • Practical knowledge of Jira, Silk Central, SQL and SoapUI, B2B integration
  • Experience in Mobile iOS and Android / Web based applications
  • API/ Web Service Testing
