At Oranga Tamariki, we work with some of the most vulnerable children and young people in the country. And we're passionate about it. We're looking for an Administrator to join us and provide support service to our Social Work team at our Balclutha site.


You will join a site with a big heart and a passion for getting things right for its children, young people and the community.  We are an enthusiastic, welcoming and caring team with positive relationships with stakeholders across the region.  We are a diverse team not only from across New Zealand but from across the World – this experience allows us to be visionary in our approach to the work.


This is a busy and varied role working under the supervision and guidance of a Supervisor. You will be responsible for a range of social work administration duties, including gathering appropriate information to clients and colleagues, providing case management assistance to the social work team, assisting in managing client financial plans, maintaining reports, and keeping updated records on our information systems database.  You will also support the Site Manager with administration duties as required and run the reception desk.


To succeed in this unique opportunity, you will demonstrate:


  • Proven experience in office administration with a passion for providing excellent customer service
  • a high level of competence in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook, in particular the ability to type more than 40 wpm.
  • strong relationship building skills with exemplary customer service skills when dealing with the  public
  • well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks, set and manage competing priorities
  • ability to work well as part of a team, use your initiative and a sense of humour!
  • a clean, current full driver's licence.
  • Sharp eye for detail and high level of accuracy
