Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Adviser with great people and process skills to join our fast paced and busy team.  You'll be responsible for working across the agency to managing the development of responses to Official Information Act requests, Ministerial correspondence, and  Parliamentary Questions, as well as twice yearly responses to Select Committees, covering all aspects of the Ministry's foreign, trade and development work. As a Senior Adviser you will also be expected to effectively coach and mentor junior members of the team and build capability in Ministry business units.

We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate experience:

  • Quickly and confidently developing effective relationships with a range of subject matter experts.
  • Working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Managing multiple tasks and adjust priorities as needed.
  • Providing high quality technical advice and assistance on meeting statutory obligations.

Also strongly desirable:

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of the operation of New Zealand Government systems, particularly around the processes of ministerial and parliamentary servicing.
  • A solid working knowledge of the Official Information Act 1982.
  • Previous experience in a ministerial services-type function.

You must:

  • Have a relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Hold New Zealand citizenship.
  • Be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate New Zealand Government security clearance
