Business Process Improvement Advisor

6 months fixed term


We are looking for a Business Process Improvement Advisor to join our Fees Free Project team.  If you enjoy working in a friendly and dynamic team then this could be the role for you.



The Tertiary Education Commission's (TEC) mission is to ensure that all New Zealanders are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need for life long achievement. TEC invests $3.2 billion annually in the tertiary education system.


TEC is responsible for the implementation of the Government's policy of first time fees free for tertiary students. The core activities for fees free are:


  • Managing the learner eligibility
  • Paying tertiary organisations for the consumption of fees free education by eligible learners
  • Monitoring and reporting on learner consumption to ensure the policy is appropriately used.


This role is responsible for managing the review of the current operating model and processes to manage fees free. The ideal candidate will have:


  • Proven track record in designing, monitoring and implementing business processes
  • Experience and knowledge of process design principles, methodologies and tools
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent active listening skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships
