About the role:

Reporting to the General Manager Commissioning and Market Building this is a new role responsible for  ensuring that the data and intelligence used in the Ministry is proactively used to help make informed decisions and provide insight to on a range of of investment portfolios.

 

In this leadership role you will be motivated to lead and support your team to provide a high level of expert advice while partnering with their stakeholders to ensure that intelligence and insight supports our strategic plan. Of critical importance will be your innovative approach to research, and championing how we provide better value for the data and intelligence. There are massive opportunities for making a difference and you will be encouraged to continually challenge the status quo.

 

This role will require the successful person to work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the Ministry for Children and Ministry for Social Development to disseminate complex analytical information in a way that is easy to understand and tells our story while being aware of the strategic challenges and operating  positively  with Treaty principles and values.

Skills and experience

 

Key requirements of the role include:

 

  • Extensive experience in providing actionable insights, advice and analysis to senior leaders and business managers in relation to performance, funding, and value for money
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and management experience to facilitate discussions and influencing decision making
  • Proven experience in developing a business strategy including delivering continuous improvements across a team while maintaining a strong internal control environment
  • The ability to make the connections between various aspects of the Ministry and implications for their business unit
  • Demonstrated communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical information in plain language both written and verbally
  • Strong business acumen with a proven history in leadership, performance and analytics
  • Clear ability to influence,  build trust and credibility at a senior level
  • Putting measures in place to ensure data integrity and accuracy

 

To be successful in this role you will have proven experience of leading a high performing team within with a proven track record of delivering initiatives and be able to demonstrate previous significant value-add to a large organisation.  A big picture thinker, you'll have the ability to turn strategies into actionable initiatives. A relevant tertiary qualification in a related discipline is a must.

 

You will have a strong customer service ethic balanced with proven commercial acumen and it goes without saying that you'll be passionate about what you do and have a can do, self-starting attitude
