About the role

Christchurch Hospital's Oncology Service is the largest provider of oncology services in the South Island. Leaders in clinical practice and research, our team is at the forefront of clinical developments and quality models of care and we want you to be a part of it.

As a Registered Nurse on Ward 26, you'll be an integral part of our dedicated multidisciplinary team and passionate about delivering quality nursing care to our patients. You'll be a natural team player with an easy communication style and sound assessment skills.

To make the most of this excellent opportunity, oncology experience is preferred but not essential, as we'll ensure you're given a comprehensive orientation package and opportunities to continue your own professional development.

Two postilions available as follows:

  • Ability to work all shifts on a rotating roster including night shifts is a requirement for this role
  • 0.9FTE
  • 0.6FTE (maternity leave cover)

Skills and experience

  • NZ Registered Nurse with a current NZ Practising Certificate and recent tertiary clinical experience within medical or surgical nursing setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage well
  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confidence, initiative and a proactive approach to work
