This is an opportunity to showcase your experience and your capability to perform in a senior leadership role supporting the Prison Director, based at Wellington Prisons for both Rimutaka and Arohata sites.

 

The primary purpose of the Deputy Prison Director is to support the Prison Director in the day to day running of the site, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the prison.

 

The role also champions and implements national and regional initiatives designed to develop a one-team approach on-site and ensure a consistent approach to prison management and reducing re-offending.

 

These positions provide leadership, guidance and support to their direct reports and is the designated stand in for the Prison Director.

 

This is an opportunity that will appeal to those who aspire to senior leadership in a custodial environment. You will have sound knowledge of frontline operational management, you will be valued for your in-depth knowledge of offender management, and the ability to consult and advise on operational matters.

 

You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, coupled with strong influencing skills and an ability to support the development of effective teams.  You will not be afraid to challenge the status quo and will be a key player in the development and implementation of a positive, forward thinking culture.

 

Experience in the implementation and maintenance of systems and processes to ensure compliance with legislation, policies and procedures is required. You must have a sound understanding of the factors impacting offender rehabilitation and reintegration.

 

This is a pivotal role within the leadership team and the successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of integrity, personal drive and commitment to the development of managers to improve performance.
