About us:

Education Infrastructure Service (EIS) as a part of the Ministry manages one of the largest property portfolios in New Zealand, composed of over 2,100 primary and secondary State schools and over 8,000 hectares of land with a carrying value of $17.2 billion.  EIS is also responsible for managing school payroll, school transport and for the delivery of information communication technology in schools.  EIS undertakes around 3,000 projects per annum; a combination of Ministry and School led projects costing at least $800m per annum.

About the role:

The Project Accountant (Capital Works) is responsible for the provision of Project Accounting services including budgets, forecasting, modelling, management reporting and planning, costing, benchmarking and developing the financial capability of managers. The Project Accountant provides essential support and advice to the Finance Manager - Capital, Programme Managers and Project Delivery teams.  The role supports the financial management (budgeting, forecasting, reporting etc.) for both capital expenditure for the EIS Capital Works groups (Capital Works and Infrastructure Advisory Services).

About you:

Ideally you will have:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification (Chartered Accountant qualification would be an advantage)
  • Experience within an asset intensive organisation with sizable fixed assets/significant capital expenditure programmes experience.
  • Experience in working in data rich environments.
