Portfolio Manager, Sexual and Reproductive Health (Permanent, Full time, Auckland or Wellington)

 

Are you driven and excited about effective implementation of programmes that will make a difference for our communities and populations across Aotearoa?

 

As the Portfolio Manager, Sexual and Reproductive Health you will support the implementation of a new programme to provide low cost contraception to women, and the roll out of the Ministry of Health's Sexual and Reproductive Health Action Plan.

 

You will be a well organised individual with a sharp intellect, who can write ministerial briefings, speech notes and reports, and support contract management, policy development and interagency work. You will work across a range of issues including HIV and STI prevention, sexuality education, contraceptive access, and with populations including: young people, LGBTI, Maori, Pacific, and women.

 

You will work collaboratively with DHB, primary care, sexual and reproductive health and community  health leaders. Your adaptability, and flexibility will enable you to shift your focus, as required, to align with any changes in public health, Ministry and Government priorities.

 

To be successful in this role, you will:

 

  • enjoy working hard, be results orientated, proactive and self-motivated
  • have proven ability to write swiftly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles, and  get messages across that have the desired effect
  • sharp intellect and understanding of a public health or systems change approach
  • have experience in government policy, public health, funding or contract management
  • have understanding or experience working on sexual and reproductive health issues
  • have experience managing collaborative formal relationships with local and/or national agencies,  
  • A relevant tertiary qualification

 

You would work in the Chronic Disease Prevention Team, a part of the System Outcomes Group in the Service Commissioning Business Unit.  This team is responsible for commissioning services in the areas of tobacco, nutrition and physical activity, sexual health and alcohol and drugs.
