Job Description

About the role 

As an annual reporting assistant you will join the Science System Investment & Performance branch which is a part of the Labour, Science Enterprise Group (LSE).  We are responsible for managing a portfolio of over a billion dollars of science investments per year
This is an opportunity to support the monitoring the performance of MBIE science investments. The 2018 Science Contestable funding annual reporting round is underway and we need an annual reporting assistant in our Wellington office to provide support and to assist our investment managers. 
The team reports to the Manager Contestable Investments.  


  • Read and understand annual reports against a list of criteria
  • Liaise closely with investment managers to finalise assessment against set criteria
  • Enter the information into a MBIE database and undertake other administrative duties required to undertake the process 
  • Administrative support for Investment managers

Skills and Experience 

  • Science knowledge and qualifications (Masters or above)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Resourcefulness and initiative
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues
  • Experience in a science organisation or in a research position   desirable
