When you work in Parliament, you don't just watch democracy in action - you're part of it. And in the Office of the Clerk, you'll be working directly at its core. The Office of the Clerk provides advisory services to the House of Representatives, directly assisting the House and its committees with the business of Parliament.

We're looking for skilled, efficient administrators to work as part of a dynamic team of go-getters responsible for supporting the vital work of select committees: a team-player who can work well with others and build strong working relationships. You'll be interacting with MPs and regularly communicating with committee advisers and witnesses, so you'll also need to be articulate and demonstrate awesome customer service and a high level of maturity and discretion.

A large part of your role will revolve around carrying out the procedures and systems required for managing the workload of committees, but you'll also be writing and processing documents, organising public hearings for legislation under discussion, and taking care of administration needs.

Your top-notch customer service skills will ensure a satisfying and uncomplicated experience for the public who make submissions to committees. And on top of your meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, you'll be able to learn and follow processes to the letter and keep a cool head, especially at busy times.

Ideally you'll be a graduate who already has one or two years' experience in a government department and you're looking to progress your career in a role that really lets you make the most of your initiative, sharp mind and qualifications.
