The role

The purpose of the role is to lead the payroll team to ensure accurate timely processing of the payroll function, compliant record management and timely, accurate analysis and reporting of relevant people related data. This role will also provide HR people-based data analysis and reporting as well as expertise on the Transport Agency's strategy and approach to remuneration.

Your in-depth understanding of the end to end payroll function will allow you to oversee people based reporting, including developing performance metrics and other relevant analytics. You will have led a team of payroll professionals in a previous role and have a focus on best practice, process improvement and efficiency. You will use your knowledge to lead or support on our approach to remuneration, including the annual remuneration process and reviews.

What you will bring

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Significant hands on experience in leading a payroll function for a mid to large size organisation.
  • Exposure to payroll processes and procedures in a unionised environment
  • In-depth experience of HR metrics, reporting and analytics
  • Some knowledge and understanding of remuneration practices, and an in depth understanding and capability is desirable
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of NZ employment legislation and how to interpret this in a payroll context
  • The ability to translate strategic concepts into priorities, plans and outcomes
