  • A unique opportunity to build public engagement in a national institution
  • Sharing knowledge, protecting our documentary heritage and helping to build a nation of readers.

The newly established role of Director Public Engagement will be responsible for the National Library's brand presence and increasing customer and external stakeholder awareness of its role and services. We want to position the National Library as an inspirational institution for sharing knowledge and ideas, debate and learning.

We are looking for candidates with:

You will also lead the work of our public programmes and exhibitions team.

The role is part of the National Library's senior leadership team, which shares responsibility for implementing Turning Knowledge into Value, the National Library's strategic directions to 2030, working with iwi Māori and other partners and sector stakeholders, across three themes of taonga, knowledge and reading.

You'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of New Zealanders. The National Library of New Zealand Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa sits within the Information and Knowledge Services branch in the Department of Internal Affairs. The National Library's strategic mission to 2030 is to create cultural and economic value for New Zealanders through leadership and collaboration.
