Job Description

Are you an Executive Assistant extraordinaire, looking for a challenge, if so we could have the opportunity for you! We have a vacancy supporting our Tier 2 Group Manager People and Capability.

The New Zealand Customs Service protects and promotes New Zealand through world class border management. Customs' main priorities are protecting New Zealand's border and revenue while helping the legitimate movement of people, goods, and craft across the border.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with an interest in working within an HR function. As Executive Assistant you will be providing a high level of administrative support to the Group Manager and the wider management team. As well as having strong organisational skills, you will also take responsibility for a small range of internal projects.

To be considered for this key role, you must be able to demonstrate your ability to multi task, develop strong relationships internally and externally - being the go to person for the group, have attention to detail and have a forward thinking approach to planning to ensure that you think of what is needed even before others do.

The following skills, experience and attributes are required:

  • Have clear initiative and a proactive approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment both within the People and Capability group and across other workgroups.
  • Proven experience providing administrative support to a senior manager including diary, travel management and function organisation
  • Strong organisational skills, being able to manage competing demands
  • High standards of integrity and a proven ability to provide confidential and discreet administrative support
  • An ability to produce high quality work under tight time pressures
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Some knowledge of  managing financial budgets would be an advantage
  • Highly proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • A willingness to actively participate and co-ordinate team activities.

Applicants must have a New Zealand Permanent Residency or Citizenship and be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance and pass a drug test.   This role will be based in the Wellington Customhouse. Please submit a CV and cover letter that clearly demonstrates your ability to meet the skills and competencies required for the role.
