Salary: $73,459 - $99,386

The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) serves and connects citizens, communities and Government to build a strong safe nation.  The Department offers a diverse range of functions, jobs, and development opportunities and provides a collegial, family friendly and flexible work environment.

Within the Shared Services Branch, Ministerial and Secretariat Services (MaSS), provides travel, visit and event organisation, secretariat and support services which enable Ministers, and other participants in New Zealand's systems of Executive Government, to carry out their functions.

Right now we have a fixed term opportunity for a Senior Advisor.  This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience advising and supporting senior and operational managers to get involved in varied and challenging work; the equal of which you are unlikely to find elsewhere.

Working closely with the National Manager of the VIP Transport service, you will have the opportunity to support, shape and lead work in a range of areas.  Your work programme will include strategic planning, scoping and developing specific operational projects, preparing briefings and reports for senior managers and Ministers, and contributing to the various operational and strategic projects across MaSS.

Ideally you will have:

  • Excellent critical thinking skills and judgement
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills which are able to be tailored as circumstances require
  • An eye for detail but is comfortable dealing with a diverse range of subjects
  • A natural ability to build and manage relationships
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines
