Lecturers – 2 roles – Nursing - General and Mental Health and Addictions

Manawa

Full time, Permanent

  • Exciting roles in Tertiary Education - Nursing
  • Career growth and opportunity to develop skills
  • Flexibility in roles to suit your skills and interests

Ara Institute of Canterbury is a vibrant and progressive tertiary institute providing world-class, tertiary-level education throughout the Canterbury and Waitaki region. Our talented staff, innovative business collaborators and supportive community partners are passionate about the role they play in our students' success.

As a leading provider of Nursing education, we are an employer of choice for nurses wanting to move into teaching.  You have the chance to join a creative, supportive team who are professionally and personally motivated by inspiring students pursuing health careers within the challenging tertiary education environment.

The Roles

We have two exciting opportunities to join our team right at the beginning of a new era for nursing education as we transition to Manawa in a purpose built facility next to Christchurch Hospital. One role will involve teaching in theory, simulation and clinical courses in Mental Health and Addictions in Nursing in the Bachelor of Nursing, Graduate Certificate in Nursing Practice and / or at postgraduate level including the Master of Nursing depending on the background, qualifications and experience of the successful applicants.  The other is a more generalist Nursing teaching role.

Staff members are expected to work across programmes according to their professional background and educational qualifications. These roles require a nurse who is passionate about clinical practice, has an excellent reputation as a professional and who can contribute to undergraduate and / or postgraduate education and research. These roles may suit an experienced educator or someone new to nursing education who is seeking a change in the direction of their career.

Skills/Experience

  • Registered Nurse with current New Zealand Practicing Certificate
  • A postgraduate qualification, preferably a master's degree in Nursing or related discipline
  • Current discipline knowledge
  • A minimum of three years full time clinical experience as a registered nurse.
  • Clinical and educational qualifications and skills that support teaching of general nursing or mental health and addictions.
  • A broad range of clinical practice and skills.

Benefits

We offer and encourage professional and skill development. Enjoy excellent employment conditions, a great central city location and access to modern facilities at our Madras campus, including Gym/Recreation Centre with free staff yoga and group fitness sessions, Library, Visions on Campus Restaurant, two Childcare Centres and a Health Centre.
