Job Description

The role of Director Operations for the Central North Island Region presents both a great opportunity and an exciting challenge.


You will be providing strategic leadership to the essential work of visitor management and biodiversity conservation across the Region.  Management of the Region includes two National Parks, two Great Walks, large scale pest control programs and several endangered species management programs.


To be successful in this role you will need to be an experienced senior leader skilled at inspiring, motivating and directing large teams operating across multiple locations.  You will be recognised for your ability to lead in circumstances of complexity and ambiguity and have excellent relationship management skills.


In this region the landscapes are intricately connected to people.  Treaty settlement processes and negotiations are ongoing and mean that our work must plan for and be responsive to the changing legal frameworks for tangata whenua.  Almost every aspect of our work involves interaction with whānau, hāpu, Iwi.


A background in conservation management is required for this role.


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
