Job Description

What you will do

The core requirements of this role will be maintaining and assisting to implement and design GNZ's Geodatabases and services to meet military and industry technical standards in order to ensure GNZ's spatial data is made available to NZDF, NZ Government, and Allied users.  You will also have opportunities working on Development tasks, predominantly around automating current data workflows, and contributing to the development of a Data Analytics capability.
 
What we need
 
We are seeking a person who has had experience working within the Geospatial industry and who can demonstrate proficiency in data management or geospatial development. You will have assisted with implementing and managing databases and web services.
 
Some of the key skills we are looking for are;
*       Enterprise GIS product knowledge and the ability to administer server-based geodatabases and data serving products (e.g. ArcGIS Server - SDE).
*       Knowledge of the diverse range of Geospatial data and associated issues: quality, accuracy, fitness for purpose, projections, sources etc.
*       An understanding in the management of Relational Database Management Systems and in the design and implementation of Geodatabase schemas.
*       An understanding of proprietary and open database technologies - SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres.

This is a unique environment where you will want to learn; you may be a recent graduate or you may have worked in an analyst type role and you are now looking to broaden your experience and expertise. It's important that you possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills as you will liaise with a wide and diverse target audience.
 
We are looking for a self-starter who is proactive, innovative and values team work.
A tertiary qualification in Computer Science or Geoscience is required.

supporting policy, planning, operations and training in order to meet NZDF outputs. GNZ is also the national and international lead for Geospatial Intelligence in New Zealand, providing imagery and geospatial intelligence to government departments and other customers.

by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:
 
Higher level Security Clearance
*       most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last ten years, OR
*       is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last ten years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
 
If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
