Job Description

In a fast-changing world, where risk needs to be constantly managed, there are fantastic opportunities for personal and professional growth in an actuarial career.

There is no better place to be an actuary than here at ACC. We're New Zealand's largest insurance provider, and the work we do is vital - providing comprehensive no-fault injury cover for all New Zealanders. Whether you're working, driving on the road, or playing on the sports field, ACC is there for you.

At ACC, we recognise that diversity, inclusion and accessibility are important to our business. We embrace the unique perspective and capabilities of our current and future employees, which will help us continue to drive innovation and achieve our business goals. Our culture enables us to create an environment of involvement, respect and connection with the communities where we work - benefitting individual employees and all our clients across New Zealand.

About the role

We are currently recruiting to a role within our team and are in a truly unique position where we can consider candidates with varying levels of experience. So, if you are a recent grad just starting your analyst career, or are a recently qualified Actuary - then we want to hear from you.

Our Actuarial Services team plays a key role in helping the organisation, forecasting future trends to help set levies, and monitoring performance to ensure the company can achieve its objectives in areas as diverse as finance, claims management and injury prevention.

Your roles and responsibilities will change depending on your level of experience. As an Analyst, you will work with senior actuarial staff, analysing data and communicating results to ensure senior management have the correct information to enable sound management of the scheme. You will have an excellent academic record and be enthusiastically looking forward to sitting the exams required to become a fully qualified Actuary.

If you are more senior, then you'll be providing actuarial advice and recommendations on many aspects of the ACC scheme, as well as helping develop and guide junior staff.

What we're looking for

No matter where you fit, you will be an enthusiastic individual who is committed to delivering quality services, both from a technical and a customer perspective.

You will have exceptional analytical skills including the ability to work with advanced mathematical and statistical models and be easily able to navigate computer programming languages like SAS. Excellent relationship management and the ability to build rapport with your key stakeholders is a key part to the success of this role. You will be an excellent communicator, able to turn complex analysis into clear, actionable advice to stakeholders across the organisation.

There is an expectation that you are or will become an active member in the NZ Society of Actuaries, as well as holding or studying towards an actuarial qualification through the Institute of Actuaries of Australia or UK or another equivalent, internationally recognised professional body.

Whether you are a recently-qualified Fellow, are still studying for your actuarial exams, or are embarking on an actuarial career, we are interested in hearing from you. Salary will be dependent on your experience level. If you are pre-exams, when applying please provide a copy of your academic transcript with your application.

How to apply

The closing date for applications is Wednesday, 3 October 2018.
