The role

Our vision is 'building lives and communities by housing New Zealanders'. To help us achieve this we are currently recruiting for a Development Strategist.

What you'll need to bring:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification with professional experience/skills in property development and extensive sector experience at a senior level
  • In-depth knowledge and demonstrated senior level experience of property development and associated legislation/regulations
  • Strong research and evaluation skills
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in preparing and presenting development feasibility and scenario modelling
  • Proven project management skills
  • Current drivers licence with no endorsements
  • Sound computer literacy in Microsoft Office environment - Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to represent the organisation in a professional manner

The key accountabilities for this role are:

  • to provide high quality, professional development site identification and feasibility expertise, including mentoring of Housing New Zealand staff as required
  • to actively contribute to filling the ADG pipeline with quality development sites and support the development strategy contribution to achieving the Housing New Zealand strategy
  • to deliver enough quality and ready to activate development sites to the business to allow the delivery of the portfolio redevelopment and additions targets
  • to provide senior level development feasibility expertise
  • to prepare and review complex development feasibility and modelling, ensuring high quality, efficient and effective portfolio development outcomes for Housing New Zealand
  • contribute to the production of development plans and programmes, so providing a strategic framework for asset treatment across the national portfolio.
