Would you like to work in a multidisciplinary team that sets the agenda for Justice Sector-wide policy and insights? Do you have a strategic mind, an eye for detail and a drive to form positive relationships across a busy sector? The Ministry of Justice's Sector Group now has opportunities for three Senior Advisor(s)/Advisor(s) to join the Investment Team - could this be you?

The Sector Group is leading a programme of work to transform the criminal justice sector to produce a safer and more effective criminal justice system. These roles will provide investment analysis and advice to inform the reform programme and contribute to investment decisions across the Justice Sector. These roles present a great opportunity for those looking to work in a high – profile, stimulating and rewarding environment. There is great room for development and we are looking to recruit people with varied skill sets and at different stages of career progression.

Particular skill sets we are looking for (strongly sought after, but not a requirement for applicants):

  • Ability to view and articulate investment in the criminal justice sector through Te Ao Maori
  • Background/expertise in Behavioral Insights
  • Investment advisor or Vote Analyst experience
  • Deep experience of the Justice Sector

Applicants should possess many of the following:

  • Experience in developing and providing economic, financial, commercial or regulatory advice, including applying and adapting analytical frameworks and tools
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing business cases
  • Experience in collecting and analysing data to inform investment decisions
  • Experience in annual and long term business planning including the development of strategy
  • Experience of governance groups
  • Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate complex information and concepts clearly, succinctly and with influence
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and networks with diverse range of stakeholders on often complex and ambiguous issues
  • Track record of creating practical solutions to complex and ambiguous problems
  • Numerically literate and ability to link data insights to policy analysis
  • A proven history of delivering projects on time and to a high standard
  • Appetite for working in a fast-paced environment where you are required to influence and respond to changing needs and priorities
  • The ability to see things from many different points of view and make connections to various streams of work
  • Understanding of the machinery of government
  • A relevant tertiary qualification
