Graduate Analyst Reporting

MSD's Monitoring and Reporting team is looking for a couple of graduate analysts to join the lively and busy team.


Our team's core business is communicating quantitative information to internal decision-makers and external stakeholders simply, clearly and accurately. We are responsible for the production of the Ministry's Tier 1 statistic, publishing public-facing website data, developing social sector indicators, as well as maintaining cross-sector engagement.


We manage key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, develop monitoring dashboards, and report on social indicators and social trends via such tools as the Information Development Infrastructure (IDI).


About You:


To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria:


  • Have a good understanding of statistical methods, visual business intelligence principles, and have an interest in telling a story through data analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to use varied messaging channels to convey your conclusions to different audiences.
  • Have a high standard of competency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. (An understanding of SAS Enterprise Guide, R or the Adobe Creative Cloud suite would be an advantage.)
  • Ideally, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification, enjoy teamwork and be able to deliver outcomes in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Insights MSD is the Ministry of Social Development's data and analytics hub. We provide robust statistical information about the Ministry's operations that is used to inform service improvement, management decision making and policy development.
