Job Description

The New Zealand Customs Service protects and promotes New Zealand through world class border management. We promote New Zealand's international trade, collect Crown revenue, and enforce the law by identifying and seizing prohibited imports and exports. We also make sure that lawful travellers and items can move across our border as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

Our Māori name - Te Mana Ārai o Aotearoa - translates as "the authority that screens and protects New Zealand".

Help us build a high performing HR Service Delivery team that leads the way across the Government sector. We're looking for someone who can bring high energy and passion to a HR function that supports our leaders to be the best that they can be.

As Manager HR Service Delivery you will lead our Human Resources, Payroll and Recruitment teams. We have a busy work-plan focused on delivering the best service to our customers, including improvements to systems and processes and building capability in the business.

About you

You will have strong leadership skills and enjoy working to get the best out of people and teams.

As an experienced HR practitioner you will be engaged in current HR trends and thinking and be able to lead and deliver initiatives across a range of HR disciplines. We need you to be able to understand and ensure delivery of the day to day work, as well as think strategically to ensure we are connected to the bigger picture and the wider State sector.

Ideally you will be a skilled HR Manager with strong experience in HR Management, operations and advisory.   You will have a tertiary qualification in HR Management, Organisational Development or a similar academic discipline; though equivalent skills gained through extensive experience in the HR arena may also be considered.

Joining Customs

To join Te Mana Ārai o Aotearoa in any role you must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.  Due to the nature of Customs' work all candidates must have a clear Police record.  Security clearances are mandatory and are conducted by Customs before job offers are made.  Successful applicants are also required to pass a drug test.

New Zealand Customs Service | Te Mana Ārai o Aotearoa is a member of Diversity Works New Zealand and is committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive workplace.  We provide equal employment opportunities and welcome applications from everyone who can meet the requirements of the role.

Please visit our website http://www.customs.govt.nz. or apply online submitting a CV and Cover Letter that demonstrates your ability to meet the requirements of the role.

Applications close 5.00pm Sunday 30 Setpember 2018
