Job Description

As part of the Labour Whip's office, you'll bring your political nous and personable nature to a role that's varied, fun, and rewarding. You're not one who's keen to sit behind a desk all day because you'll be spending most of your time out and about in the community. One day you could be meeting local business owners or visiting the kids at the local school. The next, you might be giving advice or having a good old chat with the people of your electorate. You will also develop a communications plan, identify media opportunities and become an expert in relevant subjects. Whatever it is, you'll be out there taking it all in your stride.

You've got a firm grasp of the current political landscape and where your local electorate sits within it. You're someone who's proactive and willing to roll their sleeves up and get things done. You're well known for your ability to build respectful and trusting relationships with a diverse range of people. Needless to say, you have a high level of empathy and cultural sensitivity and no matter who you're engaging with, you leave them feeling supported and valued.

You'll be stepping into an environment that is as unique and challenging as it is exciting and rewarding. This really is a role unlike any other and if you're passionate about giving back and helping your community, it's right up your alley. As an organisation, it's extremely important to us that our people feel supported and are given the opportunity to continue to grow and develop their knowledge and their careers.

This role is based in Dunedin however there will be travel across the wider Otago/ Southland region.
