Job Description

The New Zealand Customs Service protects and promotes New Zealand through world class border management. We promote New Zealand's international trade, collect Crown revenue, and enforce the law by identifying and seizing prohibited imports and exports. We also make sure that lawful travellers and items can move across our border as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Our Māori name - Te Mana Ārai o Aotearoa - translates as "the authority that screens and protects New Zealand".

The New Zealand Customs Service is seeking to appoint a Corporate Services Officer to support the team based at the Customhouse, Auckland.

The Corporate Services team is part of the wider Finance, Strategy and Performance Group and is responsible for providing sustainable, efficient and effective corporate services within Customs.

Key to this role will be:

  • Purchasing goods and services
  • Travel, accommodation and rental car bookings
  • Motor vehicle fleet maintenance
  • Uniform issue
  • Reception support
  • Mail and courier distributions
  • Buildings services and assets maintenance
  • Security system maintenance and programming
  • Staff and visitor passes and security access cards issuing
  • General administrative tasks.

As a Corporate Services Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality Reception services and administrative functions as required by Customs. Ideally you'll have previous experience in a customer-focussed role where your professional attitude, calm manner and sound judgement ensure quality standards are maintained.

Applicants are required to be Permanent Residents or Citizens of New Zealand with 5 years checkable history.  The successful applicant will be required to undergo a drug test and Customs Security Clearance. Applicants are required to have a current NZ Drivers licence (full drivers licence is preferred).
