Supplier Insights Leader – Relationship Manager (Fixed Term 12 Months)

The Supplier Insights Leader is part of our Auckland based Supplier Insights Team, the position has a strong Relationship Manager focus and leads a team of Relationship Managers whose task is to improve our data suppliers experience through using data and relationships to continually improve our service offering. We are a small, close knit team looking to drive our success further as we look to introduce new tools and processes to source quality data digitally.

This maternity cover position is a dual role where you are accountable for leading a small team of people as well as undertaking the role of the people you lead. At Stats NZ we call this a ‘Practising Leader'.

The Relationship Manager part of the role is an external facing role that facilitates the supply of data from New Zealand's most economically significant corporate businesses in a timely manner and to a high-quality standard. We are on the search for a relationship focused individual, with a passion for data, who can complement our talented and skilled team.

Reporting to the Team Manager, Supplier Insights, in this role you'll be:

  • Building and Leading a high performing team through supporting, training and coaching your people to self-manage and achieve their targets.
  • Responsible for managing the relationship between Stats NZ and data suppliers to ensure the supply of accurate and timely data.
  • Applying innovative thinking and listening to the data collection needs of our clients - we want to continue to be a respected and trusted partner.
  • Working with the wider organisation to develop new solutions, using an iterative approach to get to the best solution faster.
  • Lead the day to day work of your team and act as an escalation point to resolve supplier queries and technical questions.           
  • Establishing and maintaining sustainable internal relationships and using those relationships to improve the supplier experience.

 Our ideal candidate is likely to have:

  • Proven experience in Relationship Management.
  • Ability to lead and coach people to achieve outstanding results.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Confidence and Presentation skills.
  • Intermediate/advanced MS Office skills.
  • Ability to travel and be away from home overnight.
  • Experience working with data transfer between organisations would be an advantage.
