Job Description

Marketing Coordinator - Care (6 month fixed term)

Date: 07-Oct-2018

Location: Wellington, NZ

Company: Ministry of Social Development

Marketing Coordinator – Care (6 month fixed term)

  • Engage New Zealanders to support tamariki
  • Use your marketing and communications skills to motivate the public to provide care for tamariki and rangatahi
  • Make a real difference to the lives of tamariki in Aotearoa
  • Six month full-time, fixed term position

About the role:

We believe tamariki and rangatahi are taonga and that all children belong in communities and with whānau who will love and care for them.

Sometimes a child's immediate family may not be able to provide them with safe and stable care. Our goal is to work with the child, whānau and others who can help, so the child can return home when it's safe. If that can't happen, we aim to find them a safe, stable and loving home ideally within the wider whānau or with an approved caregiver in their community.

In this role, your main responsibility will be to help us motivate more New Zealanders to become approved caregivers who look after children when needed.

You will deliver effective collateral, engaging content and targeted caregiver recruitment marketing that generates results. You will coordinate the end-to-end process – from briefing stage, through to collateral development, approval and media placement.

Together with multiple internal teams, regionally based staff, NGOs and other partners your main areas of focus will be:

  • helping to build and run a streamlined, central process for proactive caregiver attraction
  • developing effective attraction collateral, content, targeted campaigns, media plans and engagement strategies
  • partnering directly with media suppliers to negotiate value-for-money media placements
  • directly placing digital advertising through tools such as Facebook Business Manager and Google AdWords
  • evaluating and reporting on the performance of every campaign and optimising future campaigns to maximise effectiveness
  • ensuring all communications and messaging is on-brand, reflective of our values and consistent with guidelines and policy
  • ensuring all campaigns operate within budget.

Excellent relationship management, communication skills and an understanding of Taha Māori is crucial to the success of this role. Every day you will be working closely with media suppliers and communicating daily with staff, iwi and other NGO partners based throughout the country.

You'll be based in our head office within Wellington CBD. The team you'll be joining has significant skills and experience in marketing, social media, video content production and community engagement.

From time to time you may support with other communications, engagement and marketing projects.

  • has excellent relationship management and communication skills
  • can write succinct, clear and engaging copy
  • has a strong understanding of the New Zealand media landscape and the media consumption habits of New Zealanders
  • isn't afraid of negotiating, making recommendations and pushing back when needed
  • is experienced managing paid social media/digital marketing activity, understands the technical language and can optimise to get the best results
  • is results-driven and enjoys analysing, optimising and reporting on campaigns
  • thinks outside the box with innovative ideas and media recommendations
  • can produce advertising and attraction collateral using templates and creative software such as Adobe Creative Suite
