The GCSB are looking for Production Analysts - Asian languages specialists to join our team. This role is the entry level into the Production Analyst career path.  With ongoing support and training, you will be responsible for analysing information, often in a foreign language, drafting classified reports that inform government decision-making. You will operate with a significant degree of autonomy as you endeavor to satisfy New Zealand's foreign intelligence needs, and will see tangible impact from your work.


You will have an interest in foreign language ideally Asian languages and a willingness to develop a good working knowledge of information and communication technologies; you will receive training in the use of specialised software applications.


This challenging and rewarding role requires you to work in a tight-knit team of dedicated professionals who are experts in a wide range of topics of interest to the New Zealand government.


The successful applicants will have:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong research and analysis skills
  • Aptitude for technical and language training
  • Good general knowledge and an interest in international political, economic, security affairs, and the scientific field
  • A broad understanding of New Zealand's offshore interests

Salary from $48,934 - $73,400 per annum

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
