Who we are

At Stats NZ Tatauranga Aotearoa, our vision is to unleash the power of data to change lives. As New Zealand's official data and statistics agency, we are tasked with leading the way for New Zealand's data future, enabling data-led innovation across society, the economy, and the environment.

The purpose of the role

Stats NZ runs a five-year programme that provides technical assistance and training programme to national statistical agencies in the Pacific. This role is responsible to develop the forward workplan, so the programme remains responsive and effective for Pacific Island countries' needs. As programme manager, you will need to work together with our Pacific customers to determine priority needs as well as with our partners to co-ordinate assistance.

For this role, as well as a programme management background, preference will be given to those who can demonstrate relationship management experience especially an understanding of Pacific perspectives and context.

This is a fixed-term role from the appointment to 14th December 2021.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • have proven experience in delivering results through relationships
  • have a desire to learn, and an open mind to explore different ways of solving new and old problems
  • be experienced in using project techniques to deliver, monitor and evaluate a programme
  • be flexible and confident when dealing with ambiguity.

We're also offering a base salary for this role between $104,093 - $122,462 depending on the skills and experience you bring to the role. Some offshore travel is required for this role.
