Job Description

The Investment Management & Asset Performance (IMAP) team have an exciting and interesting opportunity for two Senior Advisors Gateway Unit to join our team on a fixed-term basis, one for 6 months and the other for a 12 month period.

Previous experience of or familiarity with independent assurance, coupled with a background in portfolio, programme or project management, would be ideal for this role. You will also need a strong customer focus and attention to detail for driving/improving process and procedure.

You will provide expert analysis, policy advice, operational advice and the delivery of operational services to the Manager IMAP. 

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with senior leaders (mostly tier 2) and their teams in government, building rapport and credibility, to ensure that reviews deliver value to their projects and their organisation
  • Delivering a review work programme within agreed timeframes, within budget and to quality standards; build and develop the pool of New Zealand Gateway reviewers
  • Working collaboratively with the Investment Review Team Leaders and senior reviewers with a  wealth of experience and insight across both public and private organisations; ensure that reviews maintain a development focus rather than an assessment/audit perspective
  • Working closely with international jurisdictions to continually monitor and update the system of investment reviews, to ensure that it remains relevant and increasingly adds value to the system


The successful candidate will have a positive attitude and a strong people focus. Excellent time management and organisational skills are essential for this challenging yet rewarding position.  Having a flexible attitude and a drive to succeed will allow you to grow and develop within this role and within our organisation. 

This is a busy role and to succeed you will need exceptional judgement and attention to detail, and ideally certification in project management methodologies and frameworks, such as the Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge or the UK Office of Government Commerce's (OGC) PRINCE2 or Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) programmes.
