Job Description

Through the Department of Corrections (Corrections) continued commitment to implement industry leading Strategic Asset Management, we have recently incorporated a Strategic Asset Management Team within the Property Group. An exciting opportunity now exists to join this team that will leverage each other's skill sets to support the business as a whole in conjunction with other internal teams and external providers.

The Property Group is seeking to engage a Technical Asset Advisor (Northern) to join the recently formed Strategic Asset Management team. This position, based in Auckland will have a regional focus and responsibilities but also support the business nationally in conjunction with the Strategic Asset Management Team through specialist/technical support and delivery of initiatives. We are seeking a person with a broad understanding of the built environment (preferably trade or engineering experience) with an ability to communicate this on a technical and operational basis.

The successful applicant will initially have the opportunity to support the implementation of Strategic Asset Management and continued development of processes and systems. As the implementation progresses the Technical Asset Advisor will commence providing technical advice and development of initiatives in conjunction with the AM/FM Provider to maximise the effectiveness of Asset Management disciplines.

A key aspect of this role includes asset audits & validation through site/facility asset audits and to validate the condition, data, performance and information. These audits will also include maintenance/installation works undertaken on site in addition to Quality Assurance (QA) and Health & Safety (H&S) aspects.

In conjunction with the Strategic Asset Management Team the Asset Advisor will have a detailed understanding of the assets and systems within the allocated portfolio and have the ability to effectively communicate broadly across the business, information required for day to day operations or during events.

Given the diverse geographical location of the Corrections portfolio some travel will be required combined with the ability to work autonomously.

 To be successful it is highly desirable that you have;

  • Have a technical, trade or engineering based background
  • Have experience in the construction, maintenance or operational aspects of facility/property portfolios.
  • Experience in operational facilities management of a large and complex property asset through use of the International Infrastructure Maintenance Management (IIMM) or ISO 55000 models.
  • Ability to problem solve and assess situations through a considered and analytical approach
  • Ability to interpret information and data in relation to assets with the built environment.
  • Proven ability to be a self starter, work autonomously, take ownership, and effectively manage obligations and time especially when working remotely.
  • Strong data capturing and report writing experience and excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

Does this sound like you?? This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a large and complex organisation and further develop your career.
