Job Description

The Commerce Commission is New Zealand's competition, consumer and regulatory agency. Our vision is that New Zealanders are better off.

Our Competition and Consumer Branch is looking for a Senior Investigator to join their Consumer team investigating alleged breaches of the Fair Trading Act and Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act. This is a full time position, based in our Wellington office.

The role

The Competition and Consumer Branch aims to ensure markets are more competitive and consumers' interests are protected. The Branch helps businesses to understand their obligations and consumers to know their rights.

Reporting to a Principal Investigator, you will enjoy the challenge of gathering and analysing complex information. You will support multidisciplinary project teams and be confident and able to effectively project manage multiple pieces of work. You will also be inquisitive and prepared to ask questions. An added bonus will be having the opportunity to learn from technical experts within the Commission.

What you will have

We are looking for someone who has:

  • the ability to deal with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
  • first rate communication skills, both written and verbal
  • experience gathering and presenting information
  • a passion for consumer protection work.

A relevant tertiary qualification in an analytical discipline and/or previous investigative experience is required.
