Team Administrator for System & Legislative Policy & Strategic Engagement teams

  • Team administration and research
  • Fixed term (4-8 month) contract from start of November 2018
  • Part-time (30 hours pw) or Full-time (37.5 hours pw)
  • Wellington based

Are you super organised and proactive and enjoy providing administrative support to a range of people? Are you also good at finding and summarising information? We're looking for an energetic short-term administrator.

Who we are

Stats NZ, Tatauranga Aotearoa, is New Zealand's only government agency that lives, breathes and dreams data. We're the home of the Government Statistician and the Chief Data Steward and we think data has the power to change lives.  We're doing this by taking the lead on the tools, policy and evolving digital world of data and statistics.

Purpose of the role

We need a short-term administrator to fill a gap in our System Policy, Legislative Policy and Strategic Engagement teams. We have one fixed term post available.

You will work with teams who are passionate about data led decision making and data driven innovation. They also manage a range of relationships as we collaborate and partner with other organisations to get our work done and learn from best practice.

As an administrator supporting these teams you will work with team members with different needs and approaches.   Some of the activities you will be involved in are:

  • Arranging meetings and events, sorting out travel, organising invitations, catering, setting up rooms and taking minutes or notes for meetings.
  • Making sure processes like invoice preparation and expense claims are processed accurately and efficiently.
  • Supporting people-related processes like recruitment administration and induction for new staff.
  • Supporting in processing international engagement correspondence and preparing documentation for appearances at international fora
  • Undertaking web-based research on external organisations to prepare for strategic engagement and support our relationship management
  • Working with our customer relationship management system, updating profiles and entering insights

Person specifications

You will be a proactive problem solver and enjoy playing a key role in busy teams working at pace. Your experience will see you working with a professional manner and building strong relationships with managers and clients. A naturally collaborative style with strong relationship management skills is a must. Additional requirements include:

  • Excellent attention to detail with a flair for juggling different priorities
  • Research ability and clear written communication skills
  • Flexibility and be unflappable under pressure
  • Tech savviness and proven experience with MS-Office suite
  • A high level of integrity, professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality

The salary range for this role is $44,109 - $51,893 per annum (full-time equivalent).
