What you will do

In this role you will manage the Special Operations Network Operations Centre in order to ensure that New Zealand Special Operations Forces Computer Information Systems meet the operational needs and strategic vision of 1 NZSAS Regt.

You will also make sure that all NZSOF CIS environments are installed and maintained in accordance with relevant policy, architecture, standards and procedures. Responsibilities include the principal design of SOF CIS architecture, design of new solutions and the third level support of existing systems throughout NZSOF.

Being the lead CIS capability development within the unit as the principal technical lead you will act as the technical manager of the unit responsible for CIS service provision. You will provide team leadership by providing planning, direction co-ordination, supervision, day-to-day staff administration and staff mentoring.

What we need

We are seeking a person with experience in managing an I.T. team, a person with proven leadership skills in a technical environment. As mentioned you will be the principal technical lead with the decisions you make shaping the project work undertaken. You are adept at driving and implementing technical change and supporting business change through trending technology.

It's essential that you can build strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external; not only that but your communications skills need to be exceptional, particularly the ability to document and express technical terms to non-technical users. A Bachelor of Information Technology degree (or an equivalent tertiary qualification) or evidence of equivalent knowledge gained by industry experience is essential.

The ability to travel both domestically and internationally is a requirement.

Who we are

The purpose of 1NZSAS Regt is to respond to strategic tasks or threats for which either the task or environment precludes the use of conventional operations. Tasks are focused, often discreet operations of an unorthodox and frequently high-risk nature undertaken to achieve significant political or military objectives beyond the capability of other forces.

Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force is contributing to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand.  As a modern, professional military, it is our goal to maintain well trained, equipped and disciplined armed forces that can react to crisis at short notice.
