Location:  Dependant on the location of the successful applicant

The purpose of this role which is part of the Caregiver Recruitment and Support Leadership Team, is to lead the organisational training strategy for caregivers, oversee its implementation and evaluate its outcomes.  You will ensure that advice, expertise and experience in programme design and delivery is integrated into the organisation's planning and development processes for caregiver support.


You will work collaboratively with external training delivery partners and alongside new partners as we commission new services with them.  You will drive training initiatives to ensure that overall and individual training and development needs for caregivers are consistently met.

The skills, experience and attributes we look for include:

  • a relevant qualification in adult education, learning and development or extensive demonstrated experience and knowledge in adult learning or education in the context of a community based service, social service or allied field
  • experience in a leading learning and capability development or similar role, in a medium to large sized organisation
  • experience in developing, designing, implementing and evaluating successful learning, training and development strategies and plans
  • experience working in a care environment is desirable
  • relationship management and the ability to positively influence others
  • the ability to work collaboratively with peers and other stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes for Caregivers as they build their knowledge and skills
  • the ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences and build and maintain rapport with others
  • an understanding and appreciation of cross cultural issues and concerns, in particular, knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
  • the ability to translate Legislative requirements, organisational practice and policy and ideas into a language that can be understood by a wide range of people
  • a clean, current driver's licence is essential and a willingness to drive the Ministry's vehicles, and undertake travel as needed.
