Job Description

  • Very exciting time to join the Defence Estate and Infrastructure team
  • Unique environment and a unique opportunity
  • Ready for new challenges?

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic project manager who is results driven and thrives on challenges.

What you will do

This position, based at RNZAF Ohakea, will manage multiple complex, high cost projects within a multi-million dollar infrastructure portfolio. The position will be responsible for all aspects of project management of assigned projects including development of project plans and schedules, management of design, construction suppliers, delivery and project reporting through the life of the project until hand-over to Business as Usual.

Within this role you will work with the Estate Delivery Manager, site business representatives, local NZDF FM Services contractor, commercial consultants and contractors and NZDF HQ personnel to manage projects and develop project documentation for infrastructure that is a key enabler of military capability and operations, and contributes to the expected transformation of the NZDF estate.

What we need

DE&I Ohakea are tasked with delivering a large number of capital projects over the next few years, as well as new capital works to support estate regeneration and an increased operating capability.

You will need to bring significant experience within construction project delivery and programme development including familiarisation with project management methodologies that are considered best practice e.g. PRINCE2.

A strong understanding of the building design development process from concept through detailed design is essential. You are an expert in stakeholder management with an acute sense of commercial acumen which is invaluable around the negotiation table.

With your experience in infrastructure project planning, finding workable solutions to complex problems isn't an issue for you. You set and maintain a high standard of quality assurance, keeping up to date with all the relevant legislative requirements needed for the role.
